"UX slows us down!” – have you been confronted with this? It might seem impossible to get a thorough design process to align with a fast-paced agile environment. But with the right setup and mindset, a human centered design process can do all of this: crunch out high-quality deliverables in a two-week rhythm, provide proper research and solve in-depth problems.
Description:As a Freelance UX Designer currently embedded in an agile development team I know the relentless pressure the agile release cycle places on us. This can force us to primarily focus on polishing our handoffs and the constant workload prevents us from doing actual research and improve the real underlaying usability problems. As a result, our work can sometimes feel like putting lipstick on pigs. (Not that I don’t like pigs, they’re cute)
With DesignOps emerging, we - as a discipline - have started to sharpen the value proposition of a human centered design process to the whole product organization. In this talk I’ll share the three levels it takes to get the best out of your UX Design Team in an agile environment: how UX allows for better products decisions on a strategic level, why it’s important to do research and how the doing can be integrated in a fast paced agile workflow.
You’ll get new ideas on how to integrate and sell a human centered design approach and what you can do personally to have a greater impact on the final product outcome. And if you’re the only UX designer on the team, I’ve got you covered too with some short-cuts.
Learning objectives:
- Product Owner: Ideas how to integrate a human centered design approach in their product lifecycle
